I'm torn on this. On one hand it's a turbocharged 91 Miata for $3,500. On the other it's a turbocharged 91 Miata for $3,500....

Not to mention the paint is trashed, the hard top is gone, the soft top is supposedly in poor condition and I'm assuming it's up there in mileage.... But it's probably fun as hell.... And those wheels are pure sex.

Whatta we say? Is !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! too much to ask or is it just right?

"Over $10,000 invested"

Translation: "I did a shitty job building the car have had to fix ten grand's worth of crap along the way." Judging by the exterior he didn't take very good care of the car, no telling what horrors lay beneath it. CP.

CP if it were stock, but the turbocharger alone probably costs $3,500. Even if the little 1.6l can't take the pressure, you've got a complete turbo kit with spares for your next Miata project car.

I wouldn't go for it at $3,500, there is too much needed to get it up to snuff. If the hard top was still on it then it would probably be worth it. Also it depends on how much you trust that chinacharger he has on it. Another thing to consider is who did the tuning and is it tuned well. I would also get it up in the air to inspect for damage to the rear suspension along with looking for any rust that may be there. Maybe for $2,500 I would do it but you are looking at putting close to, if not more than, a grand into the car to get the top fixed and base line all the fluids.

Ok now looking at the picture a little more, it seems as if there is rust on the rear rocker panel. Walk away because rust = the death of miatas because it is just too damn expensive to fix.

The shanghai kits are not that expensive, it is the FM kits that are around $3,500. But still this is a CP for sure.

I've actually driven this car and it was damn quick at 5800' above sea level. It seemed like he had the tune really dialed in...

I was turned away from it mainly because the seller was a computer engineer and insisted that the car be 're-mapped' via his laptop software ever 6 months depending on the temperature outside. Seems a little to finicky for me... I have no problem redoing mechanical issues with cars but when it comes to engine mapping and tuning, I personally get a little overwhelmed. He was asking 4k at the time and it had the hard top and brand new toyo r888 on it. Although it's ugly I can attest that the build quality was pretty good - I would do 3k for it today.

I would not buy it at any price - what parts of the engine and drivetrain have been to, or beyond, their limit? I'd rather have a stock one and decide on any add-ons myself. This car is likely an automotive nightmare.

bit on the strange side from the sounds of it.

I'm thinking this is a different seller from the one I met about 2 years ago in Boulder.

More than a little likely. Never know though.
